Job Description

Launch Math + Science Centers is hiring a Manager of Operations for its Upper West Side Manhattan location. Launch provides toddlers to tweens with inspiring math instruction and STEM-based classes and camps (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Launch’s team is composed of passionate and creative people who believe in the Launch mission: To inspire students to learn and love math and science and to enjoy their applications.

Candidates should be detailed minded, have good follow through skills, be highly motivated and very enthusiastic. You will utilize your talents to manage the day-to-day operations of a Launch Learning Center, including responsibility over profit and loss, customer service, hiring/training staff, optimizing the enrollment process, curriculum delivery, and marketing activities to schools and the surrounding community.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the strategic direction of the company, the target customer and the competitive landscape, and translate that understanding into promoting the business.
  • Fiscal management of the center, including achieving top line revenue target, managing labor and expenses according to company expectations.
  • Management of program offerings, scheduling, enrollments, billing and related bookkeeping and recordkeeping.
  • Sell the program in person, by email, and by phone; generate a steady flow of new enrollments.
  • Participate in local marketing events, fostering collaborative relationships with local schools and organizations.
  • Strategic planning; evaluate center KPIs and implement effective measures to drive sales, improve team performance and enhance parent satisfaction.
  • Supervise the recruitment, selection, training, development and scheduling of high energy, highly engaged instructors and build a high-performing team focused on quality education and service.
  • Oversee select human resources functions including onboarding, payroll processing, and regulation compliance.
  • Facilities and inventory management, including management of STEM project kit production and distribution.
  • Ensure the highest quality instruction and overall customer experience for all students and their families. Teach and model appropriate instructor/student interactions. Develop rapport with students and create a fun learning environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience (business management, sales, marketing and/or teaching), with a strong focus on marketing and building relationships.
  • Highly organized; Ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities/projects with accuracy and sense of urgency. Ability to prioritize, organize, plan and work under own initiative.
  • Strong empathy, tact and diplomacy; Ability to interact with and works cooperatively with students, parents and staff, demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to individual needs.
  • Excellent verbal communication and persuasive skills, with ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to analyze/interpret business reports and statistics, write reports and business correspondence.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workplace.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Business degree preferred, and educational experience and teaching credentials a plus.
